We chose Sacred Valley to acclimate to the altitude and needed to catch a train there for our 104km marker Inca Hike starting point. Unbeknownst to us before arriving, Ollantaytambo town is an amazing living history Inca town with many of the streets and structures still with original stones and walls. The Sol Ollantay hotel is excellently located, just 1 block away from the main square, an easy walk to shops and restaurants and an easy walk to the train station. We found an excellent laundry nearby and they recommended a restaurant (not in the main square) that was so good we went there twice. They were able to accommodate our group of 10. Derek the manager spoke very good English and I was able to correspond with him via Whatsapp to make sure our accommodations were confirmed. He also arranged transportation for us from the Cusco Airport. Breakfast buffet was included with a good variety of food options. The second morning we left for the train at 6am, so they provided us with a boxed breakfast. The hotel has a nice lounge area in the center courtyard of the hotel. We left our luggage while on our 2-Day Inca trek to Machu Picchu/Aguas Calientes and then picked our luggage up on our way back to Cusco.

Needed a few days of clean green & not moving. Loved this little property & UNESCO town in mountains. Its just a short train ride to MP.  Perfect stay. Right in center but quiet. Had 2nd floor Delux King. Large room overlooking gardened running river area and Historical site.  Very clean property. Modernised room comfy huge bed with 2 relaxing chairs. Large shower. Front desk guys were very helpful. Upgraded Pervian Breakfast. Fruit yoghurt buns eggs cheese ham tomato Avacado juice coffee etc. Great location a min to everything. Next door one way chemist otherside a Local shop 50m to Square and wait for it. Just across tiny  Bridge was the best restaurant in our 3 month trip. APU Veronica. Train is a straight 10 min walk or a 2 dollar taxi ride straight down hill outside front door. Easy to do sites in Sacred Valley from here. Just grabbed a local driver to bring us up direct from hectic Cusco. About 45US.

Great central location with beautiful views to the ruins and mountains and lovely river flowing beside the accommodation. Our room was a good size & reasonably quiet and the bed was extremely comfortable. We loved hearing the river flowing at night & loved our little balcony where we could enjoy the view. Friendly staff. Able to book taxis and tours & a transfer from Cusco airport. Breakfast was delicious. The bread rolls are so tasty and we could toast them and make delicious sandwiches with avocado, tomato, ham and cheese. Bliss! There were other breakfast options along with great coffee and fruit. I couldn’t think of a better place to stay in this town. We stayed an extra night here instead of Cusco - no regrets.

This family-run hotel was a great place to be located for four nights. My mom and I stayed in the Family Room which gave us extra space, the water was hot and water pressure was great, and breakfast was delicious! The hotel had filtered water for free so you could fill up your water bottles, and they were super helpful in getting us a taxi from Ollantaytambo to Cusco when we headed out. The beds were great, too. If you're on the fence about the sacred valley, definitely do it! Ollantaytambo was such a beautiful, ancient town, and Sol Ollantay is very central. Everywhere my mom and I ate was about a three minute walk away, and you are only a 7 minute walk from incredible Inca ruins.
